About the Author
B. Suryanarain Rao (1856–1937)
Bangalore Suryanarain Rao, commonly cited as B. Suryanarain Rao, was an Indian author and scholar whose publications covered history and astrology. He was born in 1856 and died in 1937. Row's A History of Vijayanagar was first published in Madras in 1905 by Addison & Co.
His interest in Vijayanagara was rooted in both historical curiosity and personal investigation. In the preface to this work, Row explains that he had long been interested in accounts of Krishna Deva Raya and the Vijayanagara court, and that he visited Anegondi and its ruins several times. At the request of the Raja of Anegondi, he undertook further research, spending several months collecting and comparing available information and visiting places associated with the historical and religious history of the region.
